It was the future she had snuck a peek into that one summer, a future she poured everything into trying to make sure won't come to pass; that made her recall the words of another self, a warning that one day she might lose herself if she had attached herself to any one singular human once again. She couldn't prevent the fate that would inevitably befall humanity, that they so constantly brought amongst themselves, and she didn't care to. But she couldn't bear the thought of her Senpai having to see it for herself, to be stuck in the empty hell scape that the world would become, fighting for her life once again to bring it back with no allies at her side. That attempt had failed, and Ritsuka had instead run boldy head first to face the painful, harsh reality, faced it even as it was painful, just as someone not unlike her has once done. BB had no chance to witness for herself, had lost contact as all the other Servants did right before disaster struck, but she knew that to be the case deep without a shadow of a doubt when she saw her again— when she heard her summons, calling for the help of anyone in the Throne who would listen, and she didn't even think before answering. Maybe it was her nature as a caretaker AI at the core, maybe it was because it was Ritsuka who called, but either way, she had manifested as one of Ritsuka's few allies in that icy, desolate land of beasts, and refused to leave her side, following her back into the Shadow Border even after this first mission was completed.
With Mashu being wounded and still recovering from her injuries in that final battle, she was also left as Ritsuka's sole companion when Holmes and Da Vinci informed her that there is an issue needed to be taken care of, a small mission on the side while the Shadow Border continues its current course in between dimensions. A minute Singularity taking place out in the stars, in a future cut off from their current course, yet solid enough that its compromise would give their enemy a significant advantage. Go in, take care of the problem quickly, and leave— that's what they had told them, and sent Ritsuka out with BB by her side into an alternate version of her own original home. A future where humanity has succeeded in expanding to the stars and establishing colonies on the planets around them, starting with their own moon, and the Singularity, a strange disparity in this course of events that could prevent this bustling, successful future.
That's how they found themselves on a space station on top of the moon, massive and expansive, fully decked out in all the equipment required to maintain a colony, yet strangely empty of people. Plenty of food, comfortable living quarters, computer screens with commands that provide easy access to every basic human need— all that was needed for a human being to survive and live decently comfortably— for Ritsuka, above all. She had noticed the way her Senpai seemed to finally relax, just a bit, for the first time since she again saw her, the way the tension that had constantly been in her shoulders slowly dissipated as they manifested in this vast, clinical space and began to walk around and explore it. Her original programming as a caretaker AI would give this facility a high rating. Of course, whether a human, who had their own standards for comfort beyond the understanding of a machine, would feel the same would remain to be seen.
Regardless, it was definitely just made for some real drama! Now if only the humans they met would stop running off every time they approached so they could ask them questions about what happened to make this place so barren. After an hour or so of exploring the facility and taking stock of the world they've found themselves in, BB turns to her Master, addressing her with all the energy entirely absent in their current environment.
"A massive space station on the moon, fully stocked up yet mysteriously empty of nearly all people... a point in this world's history where it should be the wildly successful center of a great, bustling society, yet some mysterious interference akin to a Holy Grail put that beautiful fate to a swift end... unless, should a miracle happen, and two lovely heroines will come in just in the nick of time to save the day... " She narrates dramatically in a dramatic, serious voice, then nods to herself, with as much intensity and seriousness. "Mm, mm, yes, I see! I understand situation! You're so lucky, Senpai, that you have your beautiful angel from the moon, your very own adorable kouhai and expertly skilled in all matters related to the moon, to technology, and to hacking, cheating, and digging up what others want to keep hidden, on the scene right with you! Okay! Mission staaaaaaart! Time to investigate!"
